Picture the scene, it’s a summer’s day, and you’re out enjoying a walk with your dog. You’re crossing wide open fields, surrounded by beautiful views, and there's not another person in sight.
Then, you turn around, and your heart sinks. Your dog is lying motionless on the floor. Their legs stiff and tongue slack.
It’s a terrifying situation, one I hope you never have to face. But the reality is, you can’t be sure that it won’t happen to you.
One of the most terrifying parts of a moment like this is the feeling of helplessness, not knowing what’s happening or what you can do to help. But you don’t have to be powerless. With the right knowledge of pet first aid, you can be prepared, stay calm, and give your pet the best possible help when they need it most.
Today, I’m joined by Emma Hammett, a qualified nurse, award-winning first aid trainer, and founder of First Aid for Life. Emma’s organisation provides expert resources and specialist training to help pet owners feel confident when it comes to their pets' health and safety. Together, we’ll explore the essential aspects of at-home care and equip you with the practical skills to respond effectively if an emergency strikes.
