Joanne “Jo” Sheen, a 44-year-old mother of three from Southampton, disappeared in December 2019. For nearly seven years, police pursued more than 4,000 lines of inquiry, searched homes, boats, waterways and woodland, but could not find her. Then, in August 2026, a wildfire burned through shrubland near Padstow Walk in Feltham, West London. Human remains discovered after the fire were eventually identified through DNA testing as Joanne.
The discovery has transformed the investigation. Two 56-year-old Southampton men have now been arrested, including one on suspicion of Joanne's murder, although neither has been charged. But finding Joanne created another mystery. She disappeared around 60 miles away in Hampshire. How did her remains end up hidden in West London for almost seven years?
