Building Home From Scratch | Donna Jawad | Episode 13

We explore Donna Jawad's story of growing up in America long before Arab and Muslim communities had the presence and visibility they have today.

Donna shares what it meant to be raised in Warren, Michigan in the 1960s and 70s, when neighbors had never heard of the Middle East, Islam was completely unknown, and there was no community to lean on. She reflects on the challenges her family faced as early Lebanese immigrants, the contrast between that era and the thriving Arab community in southeast Michigan today, and her decades of meaningful work as a coordinator for Alzheimer's disease research within the MENA community at the University of Michigan.

This episode continues the conversation: real stories, meaningful transformation, and perspectives that inspire.
