Fort Laramie presents “Nature Boy,” episode 27 of the CBS radio drama, originally broadcast July 29, 1956. Written by Kathleen Hite and produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, it stars Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince, with Howard McNear and Virginia Gregg among the guest cast.
Captain Quince is assigned to escort Horace and Winifred Quiring and Gussie, three eager civilians headed west to study and teach Native life. Their birdwatching enthusiasm and misplaced confidence in frontier country soon test the patience—and readiness—of the Fort Laramie soldiers in this unusually comic-leaning episode.
