When Quince and Sergeant Goerss find a wounded man known as Charlie Little Bear, they bring him back to the fort for treatment. Quince hopes Charlie can help guide him toward a Cheyenne camp, but the request raises difficult questions of trust, duty, and survival on the frontier.
