This story follows a dependable elephant who agrees to watch over a bird’s egg while she takes a brief rest. Despite the mother's prolonged abandonment of her nest, the protagonist remains committed to his promise through harsh weather and personal mockery. His unwavering loyalty eventually leads to his capture by hunters, who transport him across the ocean to be displayed in a traveling circus. The narrative concludes when the egg finally hatches into a unique creature that mirrors the elephant's features rather than the mother's. This outcome serves as a reward for his persistence, proving that his dedication to the task was not in vain. By staying faithful to his word, he earns the admiration of the public and is eventually allowed to return home.
