This illustrated children's book retells the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale about a young girl who encounters a predatory wolf while traveling to her sick grandmother's house. Despite her mother’s warnings to avoid the creature, the girl is eventually tricked and eaten after the wolf devours her relative and disguises himself in her bed. Fortunately, a nearby woodcutter hears the wolf snoring and intervenes by cutting the animal open to rescue both victims. To ensure future safety, the characters fill the wolf's stomach with stones, forcing him to survive on a diet of vegetables instead of people. This Usborne First Reading edition features simplified language and vibrant artwork designed to engage early readers with the story's moral lessons.
