Dimension X presents “Mars Is Heaven,” episode 14, originally broadcast on NBC on July 7, 1950. Adapted by Ernest Kinoy from Ray Bradbury’s short story, the drama stars Wendell Holmes as Captain Black and Peter Capell as Dr. Horst.
In 1987, Earth’s first expedition to Mars lands expecting an alien landscape—but discovers a remarkably familiar Midwestern town that appears drawn from 1920s America. As the crew encounters impossible reminders of home, Captain Black and Dr. Horst face a growing mystery of nostalgia, memory, and whether anything on Mars can be trusted.
The 50 Greatest Old Time Radio Shows presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
