Escape presents “Red Wine,” episode 57, originally broadcast on CBS on February 26, 1949. Jeff Chandler stars as American investigator Paul Vernier in this adaptation of Lawrence G. Blochman’s short story, directed by Norman MacDonnell.
Vernier travels from San Francisco to an isolated rubber plantation in Borneo, where he is searching for a fugitive accused of murder. Surrounded by dense jungle and three guarded European residents, he must sort truth from deception before the investigation becomes dangerously personal.
The 50 Greatest Old Time Radio Shows presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
