Lux Radio Theatre presents “The Paradine Case,” originally broadcast on May 9, 1949. Episode 657 adapts Alfred Hitchcock’s 1947 courtroom drama, based on Robert Smythe Hichens’s novel. Joseph Cotten stars as barrister Anthony Keane, alongside Alida Valli and Louis Jourdan, who reprise their film roles.
In England, Keane undertakes the defense of Mrs. Maddalena Paradine, accused of poisoning her blind war-hero husband. As the investigation moves from London to the prison, courtroom, and the Paradine estate, the lawyer’s growing fascination with his client threatens to complicate both the case and his personal life.
The 50 Greatest Old Time Radio Shows presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
