CBS Radio Mystery Theater presents “The Reluctant Killer,” episode 195, originally broadcast January 2, 1975, on the CBS Radio Network. Written by Ian Martin and directed by Himan Brown, this drama stars Tony Roberts, Roberta Maxwell, Bryna Raeburn, Leon Janney, and Ian Martin.
Professional football player Steve Janis—known as “Killer”—is increasingly disturbed by the violence of the game and decides to walk away. His choice deepens tensions with his wife Pat and her mother Joy, setting humiliation, resentment, and old grievances on a dangerous course.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
