Escape presents “The Fourth Man,” originally broadcast July 7, 1949, as episode 4907. This CBS production stars Lawrence Dobkin as narrator and adapts John Russell’s short story for radio by Irving Ravetch.
Near Nouméa in the South Pacific, three escaped French penal-colony fugitives and an indigenous pilot are stranded on a makeshift raft. With water running low and trust fraying under the tropical sun, survival depends on judgment as much as endurance.
Escape presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
