Gunsmoke presents “The Coward Reused Script,” episode 352 of the classic CBS Radio Network series, originally broadcast January 4, 1959. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester, Georgia Ellis as Kitty, and Howard McNear as Doc. The script was written by John Meston and reuses his earlier “The Coward” story from 1955.
In Dodge City, an unknown coward targets Matt Dillon, leaving the marshal and those around him to face a growing danger from an unseen source. The tension builds as the threat’s identity and method remain uncertain.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
