Gunsmoke presents “The Blacksmith,” episode 111 of the classic CBS radio series, originally broadcast on June 5, 1954. Written by John Meston and produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, the episode stars William Conrad as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester.
In Dodge City, Emil, a good-natured German blacksmith, faces repeated harassment from local bully Gil Tallman. As tensions rise, Dillon and the town witness a searching test of the blacksmith’s patience, dignity, and resolve.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
