Gunsmoke presents “Yorky,” episode 78 of the classic CBS Radio series, originally broadcast on October 17, 1953. Written by John Meston and produced by Norman Macdonnell, it stars William Conrad as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester and Georgia Ellis as Kitty.
After Brant captures Yorky, an injured white boy who has been living among Indigenous people, Matt Dillon becomes involved in the boy’s uncertain future. As Yorky is brought toward Dodge City, his fear and divided loyalties challenge Dillon, Chester, and Kitty to protect him without demanding an easy answer about where he belongs.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
