Gunsmoke presents “Paid Killer Reused Script,” episode 398, originally broadcast on CBS on November 22, 1959. In this Dodge City drama, written by Les Crutchfield and produced by Norman Macdonnell, William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester.
Lawson Hale offers gunman Ed Granger $1,000 in gold to kill Dillon, placing the marshal under a mounting and personal threat. This 1959 broadcast reuses Crutchfield’s earlier January 17, 1953 Gunsmoke script, “Paid Killer.”
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
