Old Time Retro Radio presents The Adventures of Superman, “The Mystery Ship Part-1,” originally broadcast on December 23, 1942. This archival recording opens a seven-part wartime maritime serial written, directed, and produced by George Lowther for the Mutual Broadcasting System.
Returning from an undersea expedition, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and inventor Dr. Oleander Cameron face sudden danger in the Atlantic when Cameron’s bathysphere is struck by a tanker. As the emergency unfolds, Clark must help without revealing his secret identity. Bud Collyer stars as Clark Kent/Superman, with Joan Alexander as Lois Lane.
Old Time Retro Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
