The ballroom mirrors are officially reflecting pure pop diva glamour, and "Mariah Carey Night" on Season 35, Episode 5 of
Dancing with the Stars just triggered an absolute, high-voltage system crash across the entire ABC ballroom!
Danielle and Jay are in the podcast studio booting up the microphones to run a full forensic diagnostic on tonight's routines for
The Snark Side podcast. The ballroom was completely bathed in butterflies and high notes as the couples tackled iconic hits from the elusive chanteuse's legendary catalog. Standout routines electrified the floor: Maura Higgins delivered pure passion, Harry Shum Jr. brought show-stopping precision and theatricality alongside Jenna Johnson, and Jenna Dewan delivered a masterclass in emotional vulnerability and effortless movement with Val Chmerkovskiy! The evening was stacked with full-circle moments as pros with personal history and tour ties to Carey celebrated her musical legacy, but the judges' table wasn't all harmony. The tracking boards completely overheated over Carrie Ann Inaba's controversial, nitpicky scoring critiques—sparking heated debates across social media over bizarre paddle choices and scoring discrepancies that threw the leaderboard into absolute disarray!
However, the ultimate diagnostic shocker detonated in the closing minutes of the broadcast when the ballroom matrix suffered an unmitigated tragedy. Despite hitting her highest score of the season with a fun, confident Jazz routine to "Emotions" that showed undeniable breakthrough growth, Bravo star
Ciara Miller and pro partner Brandon Armstrong were shockingly eliminated! Viewers and reality critics erupted in disbelief, fuming over how low-scoring comedic routines survived the bottom tier while a steadily improving couple was sent packing to the curb. Danielle and Jay agree that when fan voting algorithms override genuine dance progress under the mirrorball, stepping onto that floor leaves logically zero room to hide!
