The Devil and Mr. O, episode 17, “Official Killer,” originally broadcast January 7, 1972. Written, directed, and produced by Arch Oboler, this syndicated revival installment retells his earlier Lights Out drama, “State Executioner.”
In Georgian England under King George III, Samuel Jones serves as the Crown’s official executioner. Alone with the weight of his profession, he confronts the pride, isolation, and private conscience of a man bound to the gallows. Featuring Mercedes McCambridge and Byron Kane.
Old Time Horror Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
