The Devil and Mr. O presents “Ancestor,” episode 7, originally broadcast October 29, 1971. Hosted and written by Arch Oboler, this syndicated episode repackages his earlier Lights Out! tale, “The Archer,” first heard in 1943.
A young woman is held prisoner in an old mine by three criminals, with little hope of escape. Then an enigmatic archer appears in the underground darkness, bringing an uncanny presence to this suspenseful ghost-story thriller. Mercedes McCambridge is featured in the original production.
Old Time Horror Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
