Dhruva was the son of King Uttanapada and his queen Suniti. The king had two wives—Suniti and Suruchi. One day, when Dhruva saw his stepbrother Uttama sitting happily on their father's lap, he too wished to receive the same affection. But when Dhruva approached the king, Queen Suruchi stopped him and cruelly told him that he had no right to sit on the king's lap because he was the son of Suniti. She told the young child that if he wished to attain such a position, he should be born from her womb in his next life.

The harsh words deeply wounded Dhruva. He returned to his mother in tears and narrated everything that had happened. Yet Mata Suniti, instead of filling her young son's heart with anger or hatred toward Suruchi, responded with remarkable wisdom and patience. She encouraged Dhruva not to seek revenge or worldly recognition, but to turn toward Bhagwan Narayan, who alone is the true father of every living being.

Suniti tells Dhruva that if he truly desires the highest place, he should seek it from Bhagwan Himself. Her words awaken an extraordinary determination in the young child. At just five years of age, Dhruva leaves home and begins his journey into the forest in search of Bhagwan.

On the way, Dhruva encounters Devarshi Narada. Seeing the child's determination, Narada Muni initially tests him, explaining how difficult the spiritual path can be and suggesting that he return home and pursue worldly responsibilities first. But Dhruva's resolve remains unshaken. He declares that he has decided to attain the darshan of Bhagwan in this very life and asks Narada for guidance.

Moved by the child's unwavering faith, Narada accepts Dhruva as a worthy seeker and directs him toward Madhuban, on the banks of the Yamuna, where Dhruva should undertake his spiritual practice and worship Bhagwan Shri Hari.
