What happens when we look everywhere for answers but forget to turn to the God of Israel?
In Second Kings, Chapter 1, Ari Abramowitz and Jeremy Gimpel begin the second book of Kings with Ahaziah, son of Ahab and Jezebel, who turns to Baal-zebub instead of seeking the God of Israel. Elijah confronts the king’s messengers with the powerful question: “Is there no God in Israel?”
The chapter takes us through pride and humility, judgment and mercy, fire from heaven, and the possibility of teshuvah. Why does one captain approach Elijah with arrogance while another kneels and pleads for mercy? And what does Elijah’s mysterious missing letter have to do with redemption?
Join us as we uncover the deeper lessons of Second Kings, Chapter 1, and what this ancient story has to say about where we turn when we need answers.
