ANOTHER RUSSIAN GENERAL TARGETED BY UKRAINE

I examine what can—and cannot—be verified about the reported shooting of Major General Nikolai Varpakovich, commander of Russia’s 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division, near Engels in Saratov Oblast. Reports say he was critically wounded and transferred to Moscow; accounts differ on the precise location and circumstances of the attack.

I also assess Ukraine’s war-crime allegations tied to strikes on civilian, energy, and hospital targets, including attacks in Uman, Kyiv, and Odesa. Finally, I clarify the reported SBU-GUR confrontation in Kyiv and explain why OSINT claims, drone-route maps, and early reports require disciplined sourcing before firm conclusions are drawn.
