Russia Held a “Fake News” Summit—and Spread Fake News

I examine Sergei Lavrov’s remarks at Russia’s fourth “Dialogues About Fakes” forum, where he renewed Kremlin denials surrounding the Skripal poisoning and Alexei Navalny’s Novichok poisoning, while dismissing reports of Russian drones in Europe. I contrast those claims with the problem of verification—and with Russia’s own pattern of battlefield assertions, including a reported false encirclement claim around Opryshky as cited by the Institute for the Study of War.
