SOEN's Reliance: Hope vs. Swedish Savagery, Solace & Why Metalheads Feel It Harder

Swedish progressive metal band SOEN are masters of duality - crushing heaviness and devastating beauty. Their musical proficiency translates into a sound that hits you in the guts. In this episode of We Wreck Records, we're joined by multi-instrumentalist Lars Åhlund to talk about the band's new album Reliance, writing music that holds both darkness and hope, and why it means everything when the toughest guy in the front row is headbanging with tears in his eyes. We also talk about finding your musical home, the power of metal communities, Swedish folk melodies hidden inside heavy riffs, and what it really means to rely on music when the world is feeling things, hard.
