Why lost wallets often come back in Japan?

Have you ever heard the expression “bachi ga ataru”?

It means that if you do something bad,

the gods are watching, and something bad will happen to you too.

In Japan, children are often warned by their parents or other adults,

“You’ll get punished!”

People often say that even if you lose a wallet in Japan,

it is likely to be returned.

I think that is because many people have this idea of “bachi ga ataru.”
