Backrooms: Impending Doom is an upcoming psychological horror video game developed and published by FD Team, scheduled for release on January 20, 2027. Capitalizing on the rising popularity of the analog horror franchise and its recent cinematic success, the single-player adventure drops players into the surreal environment of Level 0 to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a research expedition. Instead of relying on cheap jump scares, the title emphasizes a tense, oppressive atmosphere where players must manage their stamina and a fading Synchronization metric to maintain their grasp on reality. While other independent projects like Shadow of the Backrooms and The Edge of the Backrooms are also slated for a 2027 launch, this particular project offers a concrete date alongside a playable Steam prologue for eager fans.
