We took a trip to Lake Charles, LA to go to the Children’s Museum there. We heard that it was really nice, so I figured that I would give you a tour of this place and show you everything that there is to do here.

Explore Port Wonder, the brand-new children’s museum on the Lake Charles waterfront! In this walkthrough, we take you inside all four themed zones—Nature, Health, Tech, and City—plus the lakeside outdoor area. If you’re road-tripping along I-10 through southwest Louisiana and need an awesome kid stop, this place delivers hands-on play, STEM learning, and plenty of energy-burning fun.

What you’ll see inside:

- Nature zone with ball ramps, slide, gardening play, wetland & crabbing themes

- Health zone organized by the five senses (smell, sight, sound, touch, taste), giant teeth brushing, temperature & tactile boxes, animal ears, and fitness stations like a grip tester, heart-rate sensor, and trampoline

- Tech zone with funhouse mirrors, a massive kaleidoscope, bubble play, valves and pipes, an air “shower safety” demo, noodle maze, build-a-pipe wall, and an air tube system that sends balls flying

- City zone with an oil & gas distillation display, size-sorting “hourglass,” ramp races, momentum wall, construction frames and foam blocks, plus a full pretend city: port & train set, market, café, newsroom/green screen, vet clinic, music corner, and more

- Outdoor lakefront patio, gazebo, walking path, and a great view of the super-tall indoor play structure

Why we like it:

- Packed with interactive exhibits that mix learning and play

- Clearly labeled zones make it easy to explore with kids of different ages and interests

- Convenient location just off I-10—perfect for a family pit stop
