After thirty-seven years of anonymity, a teenage victim of Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen has finally been officially identified as Robin Pelkey. Known previously only as "Horseshoe Harriet," the nineteen-year-old was abducted in 1983 and discovered near Anchorage alongside other victims of the infamous murderer, who was dubbed "The Butcher Baker." Because Pelkey was never reported missing by her relatives, investigators relied on advanced genetic genealogy and DNA profiling to eventually determine her true identity. Authorities utilized public genealogy databases to successfully connect the remains to Pelkey's family lineage. Currently, only one of Hansen's discovered victims remains unidentified, and law enforcement continues applying similar DNA technology to solve that remaining cold case.
