In January 2023, contract pipe fitter Kenneth Fandrich was found murdered inside a vehicle at an Intel parking garage in Hillsboro, Oregon. Investigators quickly focused on a prime suspect: a wealthy local veterinarian named Dr. Steven Milner, who had maintained an obsessive, multi-year campaign of stalking and harassment against the victim due to an affair with the victim's wife, Tanya. Security footage captured a masked individual disabling cameras and ambushing Fandrich, while digital forensics and physical evidence ultimately placed Milner at the center of the crime. Despite the crucial getaway minivan being accidentally destroyed by a scrapyard before forensic testing, the prosecution secured a conviction using the suspect's DNA found on the victim's hands and a trail of surveillance documenting his preparations. Following a trial where Milner bizarrely claimed self-defense on the witness stand, a jury found him guilty of murder and stalking, resulting in a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
