In April 2001, Canadian authorities discovered the decomposed remains of a missing forty-year-old mother, Ivett Budram, who had suffered fatal blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators initially focused on her extramarital lover, Happy Singh, but advanced forensic entomology eventually cleared him by establishing a timeline of when the crime occurred. Attention then shifted to her husband, Mohan Ram Cassoon, whose calm demeanor masked a history of domestic violence and a previous unsolved murder of a former girlfriend's mother in New York. Police executed a search warrant and utilized luminol testing to uncover hidden traces of Ivett's blood on a television console and inside the trunk of Mohan's vehicle. Expert DNA profiling extracted from the victim's bone marrow ultimately matched these blood samples, proving Mohan's guilt. Consequently, Mohan was arrested while attempting to flee the country, tried, and convicted of second-degree murder for killing his wife.
