Inflation may have cooled, but that doesn't mean Americans have recovered from years of higher prices.
On The Money Path, Jim Bianco, President and Macro Strategist at Bianco Research, explains why the cumulative increase in prices matters far more to many households than today's inflation rate.
Bianco describes a K-shaped economy in which higher-income households continue to drive spending while many lower- and middle-income Americans struggle to keep up. His central argument: even when inflation slows, prices don't automatically return to where they were—and households remember what groceries, gasoline and everyday necessities used to cost.
Bianco also explains the difficult choices involved in closing the gap: falling prices risk deflation, while significantly faster wage growth can create additional inflationary pressure.
