Story Transcript:

Cs: Pražské staroměstské náměstí bylo plné života a barev.
En: Pražské staroměstské náměstí (Prague Old Town Square) was full of life and color.

Cs: Byla podzimní podvečer a slavnosti svatého Václava probíhaly ve velkém stylu.
En: It was an autumn evening, and the slavnosti svatého Václava (St. Wenceslas festivities) were taking place in grand style.

Cs: Kovové lampiony osvětlovaly kamenné dlaždice a vůně pekařských pochoutek se mísila s čerstvým chladným vzduchem.
En: Metal lanterns illuminated the stone tiles, and the scent of bakery treats mingled with the fresh, cool air.

Cs: Mezi davem procházela Katerina.
En: Katerina walked among the crowd.

En: She was watching the stars in the sky, but her mind was far away.

En: She was thinking about the letter she had received a few days ago.

Cs: Nabídka práce v zahraničí.
En: A job offer abroad.

Cs: Sen její kariéry architekta.
En: A dream for her career as an architect.

Cs: Nový život, nové dobrodružství.
En: A new life, a new adventure.

Cs: Ale tady byla Praha, její domov.
En: But here stood Prague, her home.

Cs: A její přátelé.
En: And her friends.

Cs: A Matej.
En: And Matej.

Cs: Katerina si přála, aby byla její volba stejně jasná jako světlo těch lampionů.
En: Katerina wished her choice was as clear as the light from those lanterns.

Cs: Matej stál poblíž, při pouti stínů kostela svatého Mikuláše, a sledoval ji.
En: Matej stood nearby, in the shadow of the kostel svatého Mikuláše (Church of St. Nicholas), watching her.

Cs: Přemýšlel o tom, zda jí má říct, co cítí.
En: He pondered whether he should tell her how he felt.

En: He was afraid that mentioning love could change everything, but he knew he could no longer remain silent.

En: "We should talk," he began cautiously when Katerina joined him with hot mulled wine in her hand.

En: "What is your answer to that big offer?" he asked, though he already suspected the answer.

Cs: „Nevím,“ povzdychla si Katerina.
En: "I don't know," sighed Katerina.

Cs: "Můj sen, víš... ale nemůžu nechat vše tady. Tebe tady."
En: "My dream, you know... but I can't leave everything here. You here."

Cs: Matej se usmál, i když cítil smutek v srdci.
En: Matej smiled, though he felt sadness in his heart.

Cs: "Katerino, zasloužíš si tu šanci. Chtěl bych být šťastný, i když by to znamenalo, že mi budeš chybět," řekl upřímně.
En: "Katerino, you deserve this chance. I want to be happy, even if it means I'll miss you," he said sincerely.

Cs: "Ale chci, abys věděla... tě mám moc rád, víc než jen jako přítelkyni."
En: "But I want you to know... I care about you a lot, more than just as a friend."

En: Silence was more audible than anything else in the square.

En: Katerina looked into his eyes, whose blue always calmed her.

Cs: Cítila vnitřní boj mezi ztrátou a nadějí.
En: She felt an internal struggle between loss and hope.

Cs: „Mateji,“ začala, hlas jí lehce roztřesený.
En: "Mateji," she began, her voice slightly trembling.

Cs: "Musím to zkusit. Něco ve mně mě táhne k tomu jet a zjistit, co všechno mohu dokázat.
En: "I have to try. Something in me pulls me to go and find out what all I can achieve.

En: But I promise I will come back. Our friendship—no, our relationship—is strong enough to endure."

Cs: Matej přikývl, ústa se mu třásla.
En: Matej nodded, his mouth trembling.

Cs: "A já tě budu čekat," odpověděl, a v tu chvíli prostor mezi nimi přetékal společným porozuměním a láskou.
En: "And I'll be waiting for you," he replied, and at that moment, the space between them overflowed with mutual understanding and love.

Cs: Podzimní Praha byla stále stejně krásná.
En: Autumn Prague was still as beautiful as ever.

Cs: Katerina našla odvahu následovat své sny, ale věděla, že Praha, její domov, zůstane vždy součástí jejího srdce.
En: Katerina found the courage to follow her dreams, but she knew that Prague, her home, would always remain a part of her heart.

En: With Matej, they stood by a stall where the scent of trdelníky filled the entire space, and they looked at the stars.

En: Perhaps not all answers were clear, but their journey was just beginning.
