Cs: Město žilo svým tempem, ale v bytě Lukášovy rodiny panovalo napětí.
En: The city was moving at its own pace, but tension prevailed in Lukáš's family apartment.

Cs: Lukáš seděl u stolu a zíral z okna ven.
En: Lukáš sat at the table, staring out the window.

Cs: Na stařičký parapet dopadal zlatožlutý svit zapadajícího slunce a on se pokusil své obavy zahnat do kouta.
En: The golden-yellow light of the setting sun was falling on the old window sill, and he tried to push his worries to the corner.

Cs: Lukáš odjakživa snil o studiu na univerzitě.
En: Lukáš had always dreamed of studying at the university.

Cs: Teď se mu jeho sen blížil.
En: Now his dream was within reach.

En: But with each suitcase packed, with each thought of soon leaving his family and familiar streets behind, doubts crept in.

Cs: Co když to nezvládne?
En: What if he couldn't handle it?

En: What if he ended up missing home more than he was willing to admit?

En: In the living room was his mother, Anna.

En: She was busy with housework but stopped every now and then to look towards Lukáš's room.

En: She tried to put on a brave face, but her heart was heavy with worry.

Cs: Její prvorozený syn odchází a roli matky začne hrát na dálku.
En: Her firstborn son was leaving, and she would have to assume her role as a mother from afar.

Cs: "Marto, pojď ke mně," zvolala Anna na svou dceru.
En: "Marto, come to me," called Anna to her daughter.

Cs: Marta přiběhla z dětského pokoje.
En: Marta ran in from the children's room.

En: She was full of life, but ever since she learned that Lukáš was leaving, she had become more pensive.

Cs: Nevěděla, jak se cítit.
En: She didn't know how to feel.

En: On one hand, her brother irritated her, but on the other, the thought of his empty place at the table weighed on her heart.

Cs: Lukáš se rozhodl, že je čas.
En: Lukáš decided it was time.

Cs: "Mami, Marto," začal, "co kdybychom měli večeři všichni dohromady? Můžeme si popovídat. O mém odjezdu."
En: "Mom, Marto," he began, "how about we have dinner together? We can talk. About my departure."

Cs: Večere začala poklidně.
En: Dinner started calmly.

Cs: Anna připravila Lukášovo oblíbené jídlo - svíčkovou.
En: Anna prepared Lukáš's favorite dish—svíčková.

Cs: Marta opatrně ochutnávala každé sousto.
En: Marta cautiously tasted each bite.

En: And Lukáš felt the atmosphere relaxing.

Cs: Ale když se večeře blížila ke konci, váha nevyřčeného pocitu byla příliš velká.
En: But as dinner came to an end, the weight of unspoken feelings was too heavy.

Cs: "Synu," řekla Anna náhle, hlas jí slabě zadrhával, "budeš mi chybět. Bojím se... bojím se, že... že jsem tě málo připravila."
En: "Son," Anna said suddenly, her voice slightly faltering, "I'll miss you. I'm afraid... afraid that... that I haven't prepared you enough."

En: "Mom, you'll remember," Lukáš smiled.

Cs: "Vždycky budu tvoje dítě. Bez ohledu na to, kam odejdu."
En: "I'll always be your child. No matter where I go."

Cs: Marta se neudržela.
En: Marta couldn't hold back.

Cs: "Lukáši, chybět nám budeš všem.
En: "Lukáši, we'll all miss you.

En: But I want to hear all about how you're doing.

Cs: Chci vědět, jaké to tam je."
En: I want to know what it's like there."

Cs: Večer pokračoval ve znamení sdílení vzpomínek.
