Story Transcript:

En: I Dimitra was sitting alone in the waiting room of the Geniko Nosokomeio in Thessaloniki.

En: The hospital was bustling with people as the autumn breeze passed through the open windows, bringing with it the smell of fallen leaves.

En: Outside, the world seemed colorful, with orange and golden leaves decorating the trees.

En: Inside, however, the atmosphere was filled with nervousness and anxiety.

En: O Kostas, her husband, was preparing for surgery.

En: At that moment, beyond her anxiety for Kostas, another weight lay on Dimitra's heart.

En: A secret she had kept for years.

En: Kostas might have a genetic disorder.

En: Something that would also affect their children, if they knew.

En: I Dimitra was constantly thinking.

El: Έπρεπε να του πει την αλήθεια;
En: Should she tell him the truth?

El: Μήπως η αλήθεια θα τον κατέστρεφε, τη στιγμή που έδινε μάχη για την υγεία του;
En: Would the truth destroy him, at a time when he was fighting for his health?

El: Ήταν τρομοκρατημένη.
En: She was terrified.

El: Πρέπει να φυλάξει το μυστικό της ή να μοιραστεί την αλήθεια;
En: Should she keep her secret or share the truth?

En: As time drew closer, Dimitra decided to write a letter.

En: "I will give him this letter when he wakes up," she thought, troubled but determined.

En: She carefully penned her feelings, her love, and, of course, the secret.

En: She knew how significant this moment was.

En: When Kostas was wheeled into the operating room, Dimitra remained still.

En: She felt an emptiness in her stomach, but the letter kept her strong.

En: Minutes passed, turning into hours.

En: Finally, the surgeon came with good news.

En: Kostas had survived the operation.

En: Shortly before he awoke, Dimitra had clutched the letter as if it were her only salvation.

En: When Kostas opened his eyes, she gave it to him without saying a word.

En: She saw the concern on his face as he read the lines of her confession.

En: When he finished, he looked deeply into her eyes, and instead of anger or disappointment, he embraced her tightly.

En: I Dimitra teared up, feeling freedom and understanding for the first time.

En: O Kostas kai i Dimitra were getting ready to face life with the quality that only truth could offer.

En: I Dimitra learned that love isn't held with secrets but with the truth, no matter how bitter it might be.

En: It was a new beginning for them.
