What happens when modern dating becomes completely unhinged?
Jon Rudnitsky, Delilah Napier and Lucy Powers join me at The Roundtable to talk about FLOATING CAROUSEL, the award-winning dark comedy taking on love, sex and the absolute insanity of dating in modern-day New York City.
Inspired by real-life dating disasters — including the incredible discovery that Delilah and Lucy had BOTH gone on a first Hinge date with the same man — Floating Carousel follows a Gender Studies grad student, a messy philanderer, an in-denial Sugar Baby, an aspiring cabaret artist and a professional cuddler as their lives collide in one increasingly wild web of relationships.
Written and directed by Napier and Powers, the film features an incredible ensemble including Dylan Baker, Jessica Hecht, Catherine Curtin, Michael Cyril Creighton, Gus Birney, Reg Rogers and Jon Rudnitsky, and took home the Ultra Indie Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Woodstock Film Festival.
We get into where these crazy stories came from, turning dating nightmares into comedy, making independent film, Jon stepping into this wonderfully messy world — and what Floating Carousel has to say about trying to find actual human connection in the swipe-right era.
BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE. 👀
We also have a BIG SURPRISE COUPLE UNVEILING during the conversation! Two familiar faces are joining the Floating Carousel family — and they’re revealing it right here at The Roundtable! 🎠🎬
Come for the dating disasters. Stay for the surprise.
