What does it mean to truly be yourself when you've spent your life moving between different cultures, countries, and identities?
On this episode of The Roundtable with Robert Bannon, Japanese composer, songwriter, producer, and orchestrator Miu Sato joins Robert to spotlight her deeply personal new EP, To Let Me Be Me, released September 18 on Joy Machine Records.
Born in Singapore and raised across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and New York, Miu has spent much of her life navigating what it means to belong. Those experiences are at the heart of her latest musical project, which explores identity, self-discovery, acceptance, and the courage to embrace every part of who we are.
With songs including “Who Do I Wanna Be” and “Hold On,” Miu brings together intimate storytelling, beautiful musical arrangements, and a message that resonates with anyone who has ever felt caught between worlds.
Beyond her work as a recording artist, Miu has built an impressive career composing and orchestrating music for screen and stage. Her credits include composing the theme music and original score for Rachel Maddow Presents: Burn Order, as well as performing her original song “Home” at a tribute honoring Disney Legend Alan Menken.
Join us as we explore Miu's musical journey, the inspiration behind To Let Me Be Me, and the importance of finding your own voice in a world that often tries to define who you should be.
It's a celebration of music, individuality, and the freedom to simply be yourself.
The best is yet to come!
