Responding to calls for police accountability, Madison’s Common Council approved a resolution on Tuesday that directs Chief of Police John Patterson to deliver a report on the police department’s implementation of previously issued recommendations.
The recommendations number in the hundreds and have accrued for almost a decade, but the police department hasn’t provided an update since 2020.
