Wisconsin is going to be voting on November 3rd for three constitutional amendments. And there is a lot of concern about one that sounds like it will put protection against discrimination into the state constitution. But racial and gender justice advocates say it will actually do the opposite and will most likely put an end to any program that tries to address documented racial disparities. In many areas, but especially in health care, this can be devastating for programs that address the high racial disparities. For example, Wisconsin has some of the highest rates of Black infant and maternal mortality, 3 times what the rates are for white infants and mothers. Her Turn reporter Arlene Zaucha talks with Kadijha Marquardt-Davis, owner of Petty Justice LLC and a health policy strategist and former health policy advisor in the Wisconsin legislature, about why she says “Vote No.”
