President Donald Trump's agreement to purchase Russian diesel is drawing bipartisan opposition in Washington as Americans face high fuel costs. Seven senators urged the administration to reverse course Sunday, while Brent crude was trading above $105 a barrel Monday morning. Trump announced the deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, saying it was intended to lower fuel prices ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. The agreement raises questions about U.S. efforts to restrict Russian energy revenue used to finance the war in Ukraine, particularly after Trump signed legislation targeting major buyers of Russian oil and gas. Whether the deal will ultimately lower fuel prices for American consumers remains unclear.
