BENEATH THE KEEP (reworking of Instrumental track , Barbacane, by Silvio Vinci)

We came with picks and lanterns,
where the northern wall had died,
forty feet of earth and silence,
seven centuries inside.

Then my hammer struck the stonework,
and the hollow answered back—
a doorway under nowhere,
a passage running black.

Beneath the keep,
beneath the ground,
I heard the stones
give back a sound.
No king, no crown,
no name to keep—
just iron and bones
beneath the keep.

We found the old barbican,
buried deeper than the wall,
still guarding an entrance
to a kingdom after all.

There were marks across the doorway,
there were ashes in the clay,
and something carved in Latin
that the years had worn away.

Beneath the keep,
beneath the ground,
I heard the stones
give back a sound.
No king, no crown,
no name to keep—
just iron and bones
beneath the keep.

My hands were full of history,
my lungs were full of dust,
every stone was holding
the memory of blood and rust.

Then somewhere in the darkness
a chain began to swing—
and for one long second
I heard the dead men sing.

Dig it out!
Bring it up!
Let the daylight in!

Seven hundred years of silence—
and the walls still know
where we’ve been.

Beneath the keep…
beneath the keep…
some doors are buried
for a reason.
