HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN (dedicated to Brian Auger)
Your organ shook the quiet room, Turned an ordinary day to June. With soulful fire and fearless hands, You took me past my careful plans.
You taught my ears to follow through, To hear what one brave chord could do. Now every time I sit and play, That freedom helps me find my way.
Happy birthday, Brian, Let the whole room sing. Here’s to all the joy and fire Your music still can bring. Every time I trust my hands And let a new tune breathe, There’s a little of your courage In the music coming out of me.
The blues, the groove, the open door— You always left me wanting more. I found my voice, I took my time; Your sound still finds its way through mine.
So count us in and let it roll, Another year with all that soul. This song is thanks for helping me Find who I am behind the keys.
