Quotes for Reflection

Christof Barth

It is the righteous who confess their unrighteousness before God.Only the godless man refuses to do this, because he regards himself as righteous.

Claus Westermann

Whenever one in his enforced separation praised God in song or speech, or silence, he was conscious of himself not as an individual, but as a member of the congregation. When in hunger and cold, between interrogations, or as one sentenced to death, he was privileged to praise God, he knew that in all his ways he was borne up by the church's praise of God.

Application Questions

1. What depths have you experienced in your life? How might the Lord have answered you there?

2. What scripture or songs of faith most readily comes to mind when you face challenges? What ones would you like to have more available for the Spirit to bring to mind?

3. How has the Lord tested and strengthened your character through patiently (or even not so patiently!) waiting for answers?
