Why Marvel Won't Let Peter Parker Grow Up

Why does Peter Parker keep losing everything and returning to square one?

From Amazing Fantasy #15 through Civil War, One More Day and the original Brand New Day comics, JP traces Marvel's long habit of resetting Peter's life—and how that pattern appears across the Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland.

In this episode:

• How hardship became central to Peter Parker's identity

• Why Marvel repeatedly resets his relationships and progress

• Whether starting over keeps Spider-Man relatable or prevents him from growing
