#108 - Kevin J. Mitchell (Free will)

🎧 EPISODE: Dr. Kevin Mitchell – Are We Really Free?

Do we truly have free will — or are our thoughts and actions just the result of brain chemistry and genetic wiring?

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Kevin Mitchell, Associate Professor of Genetics and Neuroscience at Trinity College Dublin and author of Free Agents – How Evolution Gave Us Free Will. We dive deep into the science and philosophy of agency, exploring why so many thinkers today call free will an illusion — and why Kevin strongly disagrees.

🧠 Why evolution needed free will
🧬 What neuroscience gets wrong about agency
⚖️ What this means for morality, responsibility, and being human

Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or somewhere in between — this conversation will challenge how you think about choice, control, and consciousness.
