Ja: 大阪城公園の秋の朝、空は澄み切っていた。
En: On an autumn morning in Osaka Castle Park, the sky was perfectly clear.
Ja: 風が木々の間を通り抜け、葉は鮮やかな紅色や黄金色に輝いていた。
En: The wind rustled through the trees, and the leaves shimmered in vibrant crimson and golden hues.
Ja: ハルキは絵を描くためにいつもの場所に座った。
En: Haruki sat in his usual spot to paint.
Ja: 彼の目は景色に釘付けだったが、心はどこか別のところにあった。
En: His eyes were fixed on the scenery, but his mind was somewhere else.
Ja: 彼の手には古い手紙があった。
En: In his hand was an old letter.
Ja: それは兄のケンゾウから届いたものだった。
En: It was from his brother, Kenzou.
Ja: 数年前、二人は何か小さなことで喧嘩をした。
En: A few years back, the two of them had fought over something trivial.
Ja: それ以来、一度も会話をしなかった。
En: Since then, they hadn't spoken once.
Ja: そのケンゾウが手紙を送ってきた。
En: And now, Kenzou had sent a letter.
Ja: ハルキはどうしたらいいか分からずにいた。
En: Haruki was unsure of what to do.
Ja: ハルキは手紙をゆっくりと開けた。
En: Slowly, Haruki opened the letter.
Ja: そこには、「話したい」と書かれていた。ケンゾウは、大阪に来る予定だという。
En: Inside, it said, "I want to talk." Kenzou mentioned that he was planning to come to Osaka.
Ja: ハルキの心は揺れた。
En: Haruki's heart wavered.
Ja: 絵を描くことが何よりも好きだった。
En: He loved painting more than anything.
Ja: しかし、家族のことを考えないようにしてきた。
En: However, he had been trying not to think about family matters.
Ja: それに、ケンゾウが再び彼の前に現れることが、彼の静かな生活を乱すかもしれないと考えていた。
En: Moreover, he considered that Kenzou appearing before him again might disturb his quiet life.

En: Just then, Aiko called out.

En: "Haruki!" His friend was always so full of energy.
Ja: 彼女はやって来ると、すぐに手紙の存在に気づいた。
En: As soon as she arrived, she noticed the letter.
Ja: 「それ、何？」彼女は尋ねた。
En: "What's that?" she asked.
Ja: ハルキはため息をついて答えた。「ケンゾウからだ」
En: Haruki sighed and answered, "It's from Kenzou."
Ja: アイコは手を叩いて微笑んだ。「いい機会だよ！きっと良い話になるさ。」
En: Aiko clapped her hands and smiled, "It's a great opportunity! I'm sure it will lead to a good talk."
Ja: ハルキは考え込んだ。
En: Haruki pondered.
Ja: 彼の絵は秋の風景を描くことが多かった。
En: His paintings often depicted autumn landscapes.
Ja: 色とりどりの葉が、彼の世界を彩ってくれた。
En: The colorful leaves brightened his world.
Ja: しかし、その美しい風景の中にも隠れた真実があるのだと気づいた。
En: Yet, he realized that there was a hidden truth in that beautiful scenery.
