With grass court season well underway, the TennisWorthy Podcast dives into the science and meticulous care behind Wimbledon’s legendary courts with Neil Stubley, Head of Courts and Horticulture at the AELTC. Busting the Grass Myth: Stubley clarifies the AELTC's shift to 100% perennial ryegrass, explaining how it genuinely improved court longevity and bounce consistency rather than intentionally eliminating serve-and-volley play.
The Science of Surface Testing: Learn how his team leverages winter grow lights to mimic the sun and utilizes a tool called a Clegg impact hammer to record 50 daily hardness tests per court.
