It is Yom Kippur, and as Jewish communities celebrate they remain on heightened alert following a series of recent hate-fueled incidents targeting Jews in and around houses of worship and community centers. In recent months, a man allegedly attacked a congregant and security guard during Shabbat services at Manhattan's Central Synagogue, a man was federally charged after allegedly smashing the doors of a synagogue and Jewish Community Center in Albuquerque, and a Jewish center in California was defaced with swastikas and antisemitic graffiti.
