Badlands Media Special Coverage: 9/24/26 - Trump Toasts Xi Jinping at White House State Dinner

The pageantry continues into the evening as Trump hosts President Xi and Madame Peng for a formal state dinner, complete with history lessons, a genuine gift exchange, and an unscheduled detour to show off the new White House ballroom construction, described by Trump as something 150 years of presidents have wanted built. His toast traces two centuries of U.S. China relations, from the first Chinese diplomatic delegation's visit 158 years ago to a bald eagle sculpture gifted to Xi as a symbol of American friendship. Xi responds with his own sweeping history lesson, touching on Ping Pong diplomacy, wartime allies, George Washington's porcelain collection, and a genuinely touching story about an American who helped fund reforestation efforts in China decades ago. Expect warm toasts, cultural nods, and a healthy dose of ceremonial charm as both leaders frame the evening as another chapter in a very long relationship.
