State of Jackson: Ousted commissioner Wes Gardner talks housing

Should Teton County build affordable housing itself, or partner with private developers?

In this episode of State of Jackson, host Pete Muldoon talks with Teton County Commissioner Wes Gardner about what the county learned from the collapse of its partnership with developers of a proposed 200-unit housing complex at the Virginian RV Park – and why Gardner now believes the county should consider building housing itself.

They discuss the potential benefits and risks of public development, from long-term control of affordability to financing and construction expertise, and whether Teton County has the capacity to take on projects of this scale.
